Newborn Session Details
Your little one's first photo session will be leisurely and relaxing, generally lasting between 2-3 hours. This allows ample time for baby’s snack breaks, snuggle & comforting time, and many different lifestyle arrangements. I will bring studio lighting that produces beautiful, natural looking light and supply a variety of comfy blankets and colorful swaddles, as well as a few knitted hats and flowered headbands. If you have anything you would like your baby photographed with – a special homemade blanket or knitted hat, a family heirloom, et cetera, I would love to incorporate it.
If you desire the super sleepy, curled up newborn photos, it is best to have our session between 5-10 days of age. Newborns tend to break out with some fairly intense acne around 2 weeks as their skin adjusts to life outside the womb. I do try and avoid that short window that will significantly increase editing time. I have, however, done many a session with 5-6 week old little ones, and if there is availablity on my calendar, I will never turn you down for your newborn being "too old".
I offer a very limited number of newborn sessions every month, so once you've decided that I'm the photographer for you, I encourage you to contact me right away. It is never too early to get on my calendar as I often schedule many months in advance. I will use your due date as a general idea of when we will be getting together, and we will create a definite session time once baby arrives.
Within one week of your session, I will post a sneak peek to hold you over until I have your full gallery of 30 photos prepared. Within three weeks of our photo session we will have our ordering party – you’ll get to see your full photo gallery for the first time, and we’ll discuss what to do new with your artwork! I’ll bring samples of the gorgeous products that I offer, and I will help you design a stunning wall gallery for your home, make a custom designed birth announcement or holiday card, or any other way we can dream up to make your photographs into something you can enjoy every day.
